Fashion for A/W 2012 - part 2

Finally: part two of the A/W 2012 trend post! The fourth trend on my list is the gorgeous geek. This art house aesthete doesn't care if people think her outfits are crazy. To her, clothes are another art form and she isn't one for looking classic sexy, she wants something new ad unique. This trend is about head-to-toe retro prints with streamlined silhouettes, clashing combos and above all, the trouser suit. A trouser suit with a 70s graphic print is the perfect way to nail this trend. Add dip-dye hair and brogue shoes, glasses optional. I'd try this trend with maybe a printed bag rather than going crazy with a Prada trouser suit, see also Miu Miu and Louis Vuitton for more.

Next up: the girl samurai. This girl is a traveler by heart and loves all things Asian, specifically China, Korea, and Japan. She is fearless with colour and shape and can be seen wearing sharp, short, shiny dresses, oriental prints, and silk wrap tops. Stay true to the oriental style (this Halloween, be a geisha!), and you'll get a sleek, glamorous look like at Marni, Prada, and Dries van Noten. I would love a dress or shirt with a gorgeous oriental print in my closet!

My personal favourite is the ladylike trend, which is very feminine and super-chic with skirt suits, hostess dresses, lace, and pastel colours. The peplum works great with this trend (something I'll definitely be wearing more) as do voluminous wrap coats, long leather gloves and brooches. The perfect trend for when you want to feel elegant and gorgeous. Jil Sander, Valentino, Dior, and Chloé all showed there versions of the bourgeois lady.

The last trend is the country girl. She loves cosy knits and tweeds, earthy colours, and chunky layers with a skinny belt. Flat caps, the puffa, and ankle boots look great with milkmaid plaits and a rosy blush. See Burberry Prorsum, Michale Kors, and Mulberry for inspiration to a rural look.

Kiss me hard before you go

Hi! Yesterday morning when I looked out the window the weather was so nice, the sun was shining and the skies were blue, so I thought I'd take some pictures on my way to work. It went well from our house to the bus stop (all the photos in this post are from that trip), but when the bus drove closer to town the rain started pouring down... I thought "OK, this isn't so bad, I have my umbrella with me!" I couldn't take any pictures but would have been glad to get to work dry. No chance of that happening of course :D

When I was walking on the bridge that goes over the freeway it started to rain like crazy and I clutched my canvas bag with the camera in it to my chest so it wouldn't get wet. Still I thought I could get to work with just wet shoes but oh no. Than the hail started coming down and the wind blew from behind that soon my behind was soaked through two layers of skirt and the tights... By the time I got to shelter my Converse sneakers were soaked and squishy with water and I was getting pretty cold, fast. The bright side: my camera was nice and dry :D Ellu saved me by bringing a dry pair of sweatpants I'd forgotten at the cottage a while back, and I spent most of the work day bare foot: a very casual Friday!

Outfit from today's shopping trip with Mum to the new mall in Kouvola, it was nice but didn't have any special stores you can't find anywhere else. Sweater and dress from H&M.

Live while we're young

Heeippa! 

Noniin, voin nyt ylpeenä sanoa, etten panikoinut turhia eilen ensimmäisenä koulupäivänä uudessa koulussa! 

Oikeestaan, siellä oli jotenki tosi mukavaa. Musta vaa tuntuu, että mulla on kokoajan kauheesti todistettavaa, että mä oikeesti kuulun sinne, ja pysyn muiden mukana opetuksessa. Se kyllä saattaa olla vähän hankalaa, koska muut siellä kurssilla on siis ihan natiiveja, ja opiskellu ne periaatteessa jo kerran aiemmin koulussa. Oonhan mäki tietenki opiskellu englantia nyt ihan tarpeeks monta vuotta ja niin, mut noi on tosiaan niiden äidinkielen tunteja, mikä tarkottaa runoanalyysejä, esitelmiä ja puheharjotuksia, kirjotustehtäviä ja Shakespearen lukemista, mikä on jo ihan tarpeeks vaikeeta jo suomeksikin.

Meillä on nyt muutaman viikon päästä ensimmäinen esitelmä, ja voin kertoo, että mua pelottaa aika paljon. Tiiättekö, ku esitelmää ku alkaa pitää, jännittää jo paljon vaikka se olis omalla äidinkielellä tutulle ryhmälle. 

Mä kerron tuntemattomalle ryhmälle suomalaisesta perinneruuasta englanniksi. Pitäkää peukkuja.

Onnistuin tutustumaan muutamaan tyyppiin tuolla kurssilla, eli eiköhän niitä kavereita munkin suuntaan ala tulla :--D Iida tulee huomenna käymään meillä täällä, taitaa suuntana olla ostoskeskus. Jos mä selvitän millä bussilla pääsen sinne, mieluiten ajoissa...Oon vähän kujalla vielä noista busseista. 

Hostperhe lähti tänään yöksi pois, ja oon päättäny pyhittää tän illan leffoille ja musiikille ilman kuulokkeita. Isoja suunnitelmia, kyllä.

Ps. just so you know, jos tuutte koskaa käymää briteissä, jos ruokapaketissa lukee 'sweet chili', se ei ole sitä, sanoo oona joka juo edelleen mehua jäätäviä määriä.

Hey! Well maybe my plans for today weren't that big but I had many of them... And not enough time :D It seems like my projects tend to pile up and I'll never be able to actually do them, but can't complain: at least I'll never be bored! Tomorrow after the last few hours of work before a free weekend we're going to a friend's house for the evening, maybe I'll manage to take pictures ;)

Most of my day was spent drawing patterns for Moona's jumpsuit :) I finished the small ones, now to draw them full size!

I had been knitting this tube scarf since last autumn until I finally finished it today :D I'm really happy with the result and will use this when it's time to hide from the cold. The sweater underneath is from H&M.
